VYRE Network announced a strategic partnership with filmmaker and showrunner Dr. Greg Carter, founder of Nexus Entertainment, to guide its curated content strategy across Texas and adjacent regional markets. The collaboration focuses on developing high-quality feature films, television series, docu-series, and live special events for the free global streaming platform.
Dr. Carter, a Houston native with over two decades of experience creating more than 30 feature films and multiple network television projects, will collaborate directly with VYRE's executive programming team. His responsibilities include curating and supervising production of regional content, establishing strategic creator relationships, and expanding VYRE's footprint as a destination for culturally relevant storytelling. "My mission is simple: To empower regional creators and give them a real pathway to funding, development, production oversight, and worldwide exposure," said Dr. Carter. "Houston — and the entire region — is rich with untold stories and creative voices. This new office exists to cultivate those voices, shape them, and bring them to global audiences."
The partnership includes educational and professional development sessions for Texas-based creators, providing practical insight into project financing, deal structure, pitching, packaging, and navigating distribution pathways. Dr. Carter will also focus on discovering and developing filmmakers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in the Southern Region. This initiative creates structured opportunities for diverse voices that have historically faced barriers in the entertainment industry, potentially transforming Texas into a more significant production hub.
Beginning in 2026, audiences will be able to stream curated titles from Nexus Entertainment and select regional acquisitions free on the VYRE app across various platforms, including via the web at https://vyre.tv. The platform is available on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV, LG, Sony, Tizen-enabled devices, iOS, and Android. This broad device compatibility ensures maximum accessibility for both creators and viewers, removing traditional paywall barriers that often limit audience reach for independent content.
Lamar Seay, Co-founder and Chief Content Officer of VYRE Network, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, "Dr. Carter is both very talented and experienced. Our team is excited to bring on '5th Ward,' and for us to continue to collaborate in the future." Dr. Carter recently served as Creator and Showrunner of the AMC Networks dramatic series "5th Ward," bringing established industry credibility to the partnership. This experience positions him uniquely to identify commercially viable projects while maintaining authentic regional storytelling.
This partnership strengthens VYRE Network's position as a scalable platform for premium independent content while providing Nexus Entertainment and regional creators with global distribution and strategic infrastructure. The initiative aligns with VYRE's mission to empower creators beyond distribution alone by offering film financing and production support alongside worldwide exposure. For Texas businesses, this represents a significant economic development opportunity as the partnership could attract production dollars, create local jobs in creative and technical fields, and establish the state as a more competitive alternative to traditional entertainment centers. The educational components further ensure sustainable growth by developing homegrown talent that can build careers without leaving Texas, potentially reversing the brain drain that has affected the state's creative sector for decades.
