The recent Dancing with the Stars Austin event has generated substantial support for child protection services, raising over $2.95 million for the Center for Child Protection. Bruce Allen Craig, CEO and President of Big Easy Entertainment, participated in the December 6 event alongside community leaders, performers, sponsors, and volunteers, with all funds directed toward critical services for children and families in the Austin area.
Craig emphasized that the event's success reflects community commitment rather than individual performance. "What an incredible night," Craig said. "The passion, energy, and commitment from everyone involved truly stood out. This wasn't about performance. It was about showing up for children who need protection and care." The Center for Child Protection serves as the primary resource for children in Travis County when abuse is suspected, providing forensic interviews, medical evaluations, therapy, and family advocacy services.
The nearly $3 million raised will directly support these essential programs. "Because of this community, nearly $3 million will go toward life-changing work," Craig noted. "That level of generosity shows what's possible when people come together with purpose." Craig acknowledged all contributors to the event's success, stating, "I want to congratulate every dancer, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter. Your commitment didn't just make the event successful — it made a real difference for children and families."
Reflecting on his personal involvement, Craig framed participation as a community responsibility rather than seeking recognition. "I'm proud to have played a small part," he said. "Moments like this remind you that leadership extends beyond business." The event demonstrates how community initiatives can create substantial impact for organizations addressing critical social needs. Craig encourages continued support for such efforts, stating, "To protect children, momentum matters. And this night helped move that mission forward."
