Military Spouse Leadership Development Program Opens Applications for 2025 Cohort

The Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) has launched the application process for the 2025 cohort of its Military Spouse Leadership Development Program (MSLDP), a pioneering initiative designed to foster leadership skills among military spouses. This program, generously presented by USAA, is set to select 50 participants who will embark on a transformative journey to enhance their leadership capabilities, thereby enabling them to serve as pivotal figures in their communities.

Expanding from its original fall schedule to include a spring session in 2024, the program's growth underscores the escalating demand for leadership development avenues among military spouses. The application window, which commenced on January 13, will close on February 7, 2025, offering a timely opportunity for eligible spouses to apply. Verenice Castillo, the Founder and CEO of MSAN, highlighted the program's significance in empowering military spouses, acknowledging USAA's unwavering support in this endeavor.

Eligibility for the MSLDP extends to spouses of currently serving U.S. military members across all branches, including the Reserves and Guard, as well as post 9-11 Gold Star Spouses, Surviving Spouses, Caregivers, and spouses of Veterans or Retirees. This inclusive approach ensures a wide-reaching impact, fostering a diverse cohort of future leaders.

The program's curriculum is both comprehensive and prestigious, featuring training from Harvard University's National Preparedness Leadership Initiative and Psych Hub for Mental Health Ally Certification. Over four months, participants will delve into the essentials of Leadership, Service, Advocacy, and Mentorship, guided by top military leaders and experts in professional communications. Graduates will be awarded a Leadership Certificate from Harvard University, alongside a mental health allyship certificate from Psych HUB, equipping them with the tools to effect positive change in their communities.

As part of the broader Leadership Institute for Military Spouses by MSAN, the MSLDP exemplifies the organization's dedication to bolstering military families through education and empowerment. This initiative not only addresses the immediate need for leadership development among military spouses but also contributes to the broader objectives of enhancing military retention, resource utilization, and community cohesion. By investing in the potential of military spouses, MSAN is paving the way for a stronger, more resilient military family support system nationwide.
