Wytec International is taking a significant step forward in school safety with the launch of its first pilot program for an integrated AI gunshot detection solution across Texas school districts. This initiative, part of a broader effort to enhance public safety, utilizes the Federal Communications Commission's Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) to establish secure, private wireless networks capable of detecting various gunshot threats. The program is made possible through the TXShare Cooperative Purchasing Program, enabling Wytec to deploy its solutions in over 170 U.S. cities, 50 counties, and numerous special districts, including schools, hospitals, and public safety organizations.
The technology behind this initiative is the result of strategic partnerships with Nextivity Inc. and Lemko Corporation, combining embedded AI and machine learning software with smart sensors and sophisticated wireless connectivity. Wytec's approach is supported by over 75 global patents and patent-pending technologies, highlighting the company's commitment to innovation in public safety. Nextivity contributes in-building cellular solutions, while Lemko Corporation provides the secure wireless backbone through its private LTE network capabilities, both bringing extensive expertise and patents to the table.
This pilot project represents a phased strategy aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of advanced public safety technologies in educational settings. By selecting one or more of the 1,203 Texas Independent School Districts within the TXShare members for the initial phase, Wytec is addressing the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in schools.
